To Milestones...
I am embarrassed to admit that I never did a baby book for Conner. For many reasons really. I never found a baby book that fit his journey - specifically being in the NICU, being delayed and not doing the things full-term normally developing babies do. I was already reminded daily that Conner was behind, I didn't need a book asking me when he started sitting independently or when he started saying "Mama." When Conner was 4 days old, I started a CaringBridge page to keep family and friends up to date and since then that has sort of served as Conner's unofficial baby book.
My love for Shel Silverstein has grown since Conner was born. Who doesn't love Shel Silverstein, I ask!? His poems are humorous, sometimes dark and twisted, but my favorites are the ones that provide perspective on life and motivation to continue moving forward. My current favorite Shel Silverstein piece is above and it resides in Conner's therapy/playroom as a constant reminder to me that more is always possible, in fact, ANYTHING is possible.
