MEDEK/CME Intensive -
Connecting Families and Therapists
Accessing MEDEK/CME Therapists is a common problem among parents. If you’d like to connect with other families in your area that are also interested in MEDEK/CME, please fill out the form below. Our goal with this is to find families in the same area, connect you and then connect you with a MEDEK/CME Therapist that is willing to travel for an intensive.
What is an intensive?
Intensives are typically two 45-minute to 1-hour sessions a day (AM/PM) for 5 days. However, they can vary depending on the child, what the families can manage, etc. Children can participate all 5 days or just a couple days. Again, it really depends on the child and what the families prefer to do based on time and budget.
What does organizing an intensive take?
It takes coordination and communication. It helps to have a lead parent in your area that can be the one communicating directly with the therapist, creating the schedule, coordinating payment, etc. We can share the forms we have used to help make this easier. We know that there is never enough time as a parent - especially one that may need a little extra care.
What does an intensive cost?
Costs of intensives vary. The fee per session depends on the therapist. The additional costs include covering expenses for the therapist (i.e. airfare, hotel, car rental, etc.). This will vary depending on the number of children/families splitting the cost.
Home Program
In addition to a five-day intensive, you will also receive a home program from the therapist. This will include exercises that can be done at home with your child. You will have time to practice these exercises towards the end of the intensive. The therapist will provide excellent instruction, so that you can be successful on your own. Plan to take videos of the tutorials from the therapist as you will want to reference them to ensure you are doing the exercises correctly. Exercises will require a table of some sort and/or a set or two of MEDEK boxes depending on what stage the child is at.
